I figured since it's the week after a holiday and I'm still recovering, I'd take it a bit easy and give myself a minor break. So, just a few video clips for today, scaring you away from Micky D's and another Twitter intro. We start with the folks from NMA TV. They are out of Taiwan and they do hilarious cartoon reenactments of things going on in the world. It doesn't even have to be important stories. They've done a bunch on Tiger Woods, Charlie Sheen, TSA screenings, the list goes on. Here are a few vids, check out others on You Tube if you dig them:
This is on the early stages of the Penn State scandal:
This is on the Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann:
If you ever wondered what was in a McRib sandwich, you can see the list of ingredients here. Most of the ingredients will either scare or confuse you. But, there was one ingredient that took the award (azodicarbonamide). It is a flour-bleaching agent used to make the soles of shoes and foamed plastics like gym mats. Ugh. I don't know how this can still be called "food." And, people still ask me why I became a vegan.
Here is the first paragraph of the article I linked to: "There's no rib in a McRib. There are about 70 other ingredients. The greatest amount of them come from ground-up low-value pork trimmings mixed together with salt and water to create "meat logs" that are then carved to size. So in what forest do you find a meat log?"
(Me again) On another site, someone took the time to deconstruct the McRib, removing the bun, washing the sauce off and cutting it in half. Warning, viewer discretion is advised. Those with cast-iron stomachs can see it here.
And, before we get out of here, here is another attempt to get friends onto Twitter. This person is not funny though. They tweet under the name "Overt Dictionary", and he/she basically strips the BS from many things in our daily lives. You might find it depressing. It might make you rethink how you look at some things. It did for me. Here are a few of my favorites: You can follow Overt Dictionary here.
- Disney: a company which turns children into obedient, well behaved, consumers.
-The Fashion Industry: an industry which objectifies women by making the objectification feel cool and socially desirable.
- Halliburton: a company which paid former vice president Dick Cheney $25 million to launch a lucrative war on Iraq.
- The Red Cross: a big corporate fraud in which 80% of donations go towards 'administrative' costs.
- McDonald's: a company which forbids employees from eating or donating food at the end of the day, it must go in the garbage.
- Goldman Sachs: investing geniuses, brilliant traders, blah blah but when they fuck up they get their treasury secretary to bail them out.
- Ignorance is Bliss: anyone who utters that statement has truly lost their soul, and has become nothing more than a set of physical reflexes.
This was a short post, but I think we hit all ends of the spectrum. You got a few laughs from NMA TV, you'll have nightmares about the McRib, and the folks at Overt Dictionary may have caused you to look at things a bit differently. Again this was a holiday-week edition, back in a couple of days with a proper post.
Until then,
A.T.
